Back to the "Butterfly Garden"

Back to the "Butterfly Garden" on Lingfield Common: it's a looking a bit untidy at the moment as the new buds of spring push through the debris left by winter. Ink and watercolour, 31 x 21 cm.
Under the motorway: April
26 April 2016
Under the motorway: April. It's the time of year when everything changes to quickly; a few days earlier or later, and this scene would look very different. Yellow green leaves are bursting out everywhere, and the muddy path is at last starting to dry up. Eleventh in a month series of drawings. Ink and watercolour, 31 x 21cm.
Urban sketching at the Royal Academy
22 April 2016
It's a cold, grey, damp Saturday, so it must be another USK London meeting! The priority on a day like this is to find somewhere out of the rain and wind, and then draw whatever's in front of you. Here are my drawings, both from the shelter of a doorway in the courtyard of the Royal Academy: one looking south to the roofline (that's not a early/late Christmas tree; just a bay tree that was in front of me), and the other towards the main entrance (still not a Christmas tree). Thanks to Katherine and James for organising the day, and to everyone who came along.
Ink and watercolour in Moleskine sketchbook, 42 x 13cm. Click the pictures to see the full width.
