Trees no longer know they want

28 January 2019

Desperately cold, in spite of the bright sunshine and blue sky. Neither ink nor paint dries properly at these temperatures.

Two women on horseback ride past, and wave, "Thank you very much!". Not sure what I did, so just say, "You're welcome".

6 x 5: Quick sketches in London

14 July 2018

Six five-minute sketches in London. The heat made it too difficult to draw outside for much longer.

Loch Kishorn: Sketchbook

22 October 2017

Drawing in the wind and rain and sun and mist at Loch Kishorn, Scotland. The terrific thing about working in Scotland at this time of year is how fast everything changes, as the wind blows the weather across and around the mountains; it's never the same for more than a few minutes, and each new scene brings another effect to capture.

Tonal sketches, and annotated sketches, A5 and A4, pencil.
